Brompton Bicycle book by David Henshaw 4th Edition
Product Details

Now in a fully updated 4th edition for 2024, Brompton Bicycle tells the fascinating story behind one of the world's most unusual and popular folding bikes. It also details how you can modify and convert your Brompton for such uses as child carrying and touring and acts as a unique maintenance and repair manual, full of tips you won't find in any standard bike repair book. In short, everything you need to enjoy this incredible bike to the full.

The first edition was hugely popular with the legions of Brompton fans and contained 160 pages, but the latest 248 page edition contains information on the new super lightweight T-Line - probably the world's lightest production folding bike - plus where Brompton may be heading in the future and of course the low-down on other new products and company developments.

According to AtoB magazine:

Fifth Printing
This is the 5th reprint of ‘Brompton Bicycle’, continuously in print since 2009.

Fascinating History
The story would be hard to make up. A lone inventor, struggling for years in his bedroom building prototypes. Eventually he produces a world-class folding bike. The idea was to sell the concept to a consumer engineering business. But none were interested. Eventually, Andrew Ritchie was forced to go it alone, starting a company that is now one of the biggest and most successful folding bike manufacturers in the world, and the biggest bicycle manufacturer in the UK.

Access to all the Players
‘Brompton Bicycle’ is based on taped interviews with the major players. Ritchie himself, plus his management team, competitors, backers, shareholders and financiers. The first chapters cover the early development of folding bikes and the detailed story of the Brompton. There are also tips and hints for anyone buying or maintaining a new or secondhand Brompton.

New Larger Format
There is so much new information in this 4th Edition that the book has expanded in size to 248 pages and 180x260mm. All in a plush bronze cover with artwork by Diana Powell.
