This is the Plus version of the regular Full metal Clamp Mk4, which means it features bottle boss eyelets in the center. This way it can be used for a bottle cage or any kind of anything cage like the Eerder i-Rac for carrying an Eerder Xplorer pocket.
When the Full metal Clamp Mk4+ is combined with the i-Rac you've got a mini version of the Brompton luggage frame (the frame inside your Brompton bag) . Just like in the use case above you can use it for an Eerder Xplorer pocket or (camp) gear strapped to it. Have a look at the photos above to get an idea of the versatility of the i-Rac.
The Eerder i-Rac is designed as a bottle boss mounted mini rack for the Eerder Xplorer pockets. With the i-Rac on the Brompton G line fork leg or handlebar stem you can carry one extra pocket or other items like post ride shoes/sandals/Crocs or whatever (camp) gear you wanna strap to it.
The Eerder Full metal Clamp fits the Eerder Full metal Bracket and the Brompton front carrier block. It features 4 mounting points which correspond with the hole pattern of the Eerder Framehugger Mk4 to Mk7. So it can be bolted to the Framehugger to create a super versatile mini rack. But of course it can be bolted to a lot of other objects, like baskets, crates, containers, a DIY wooden platform, whatever you can think of. Let your imagination go wild!
The Mk4 features a top stop bridge anti getting stuck kinda feature. The problem with high loads is that the wedge design might clamp pretty tight on the carrier block. The longer the ride, the more bumps, the heavier the load, the tighter it gets. Probably more of an issue on the Full metal Bracket than on the flexy plastic Brompton carrier block. To prevent this I finally offer this solution in the form of a Preloader.
The Preloader is screwed to the top side of the Clamp limiting the amount of sag and defining the amount of preload. When putting the clamp on the bracket the Preloader is just free from the carrier bracket's top side, but under load it comes into action. The idea is that there's now a defined preload on the clamp for a rattle free tight fit. And it takes just a little tug to unwedge it from the Carrier block.
